NSW Walking Football Representative Teams
A new era for NSW walking football representative teams is beginning, creating a pathway that can take players from a weekly social game through tournaments and State trials to representing NSW and potentially Australia.
Walking Football NSW is bringing together players from across metropolitan and regional NSW as part of its State representative programme ahead of the WFFA Cup 2026.
And there is something new coming.
For the first time, the programme is being brought together under one distinctive NSW identity.
We’re not revealing that identity just yet.
But we can reveal this:
12 teams. One State. One identity.
A Pathway for Walking Football Players in NSW
Walking football is growing across NSW, providing an opportunity for older players to stay active, meet new people and continue enjoying the game in a safe and welcoming environment.
For many, their journey starts at a local Walking Football NSW WalkSoccer hub, where weekly sessions are focused on participation, enjoyment and community.
But for players who want something more competitive, there is now a growing pathway.
Weekly hub → social and tournament football → Metro or Regional State trials → NSW representative team → WFFA Cup → Foreveroos selection.
Players can progress from their regular weekly games to gala days and walking football tournaments, where they experience tournament football and play alongside and against people from other hubs.
For some, the next step is putting their hand up to represent their State.
Metro and Regional NSW Walking Football Representative Trials
The NSW representative programme has been designed to provide opportunities for players from both Metro and Regional NSW.
During 2026, players have participated in NSW walking football trials and representative sessions, with selectors also having opportunities to observe players at tournaments and other events.
Selection is therefore not based on attending one particular trial.
This is especially important for regional players who may have significant distances to travel. The objective is to provide genuine opportunities for players from walking football communities across NSW to be considered for State representation.
The representative age divisions are Women 40, Women 50, Women 60, Men 50, Men 60 and Men 70, with Metro and Regional teams creating a 12-team NSW programme.
Once squads come together, the focus moves to training, teamwork and preparing to represent NSW.

Road to the WFFA Cup 2026
The destination is the 2026 WFFA Cup, the national State and Territory walking football tournament being held at Cromer Park, Sydney, on 10–11 October 2026.
The tournament will bring representative teams together from around Australia, providing NSW players with the opportunity to compete at national level while proudly representing their State.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll share that journey.
We’ll reveal the new team name and badge, introduce the NSW squads, follow Metro and Regional training, share progress on the playing kit and welcome the partners helping make the programme possible.
Most importantly, we’ll introduce the people behind the teams.
From NSW to the Foreveroos
The representative pathway does not necessarily end at the WFFA Cup.
The tournament also provides an important opportunity for players to be observed as part of the Foreveroos selection pathway for Walking Football Australia.
Australia’s next major international destination is the FIWFA World Nations Cup in Paris, France, from 16–20 August 2027, where Foreveroos teams will represent Australia across the men’s and women’s age divisions.
Further international events will continue to provide opportunities for players to take their walking football journey onto the world stage.
That means someone arriving at a local hub for their first social walking football session can now see a genuine pathway ahead:
Play locally. Experience tournaments. Trial for NSW. Represent your State. And perhaps, one day, represent Australia.
For now, however, one important part of the NSW story remains under wraps.
